pinta ACOUSTIC PANEL - Installation

Important note for installation and transportation of pinta ACOUSTIC PANELS

The ACOUSTIC PANEL is to be transported upright. Not adhering to this leads to irreparable damages to the fleece on the visible side of the ACOUSTIC PANEL. Bending the panel and also putting pressure on the not yet installed ACOUSTIC PANEL always leads to product damage. Installations over head (i.e. the ceiling) are always to be carried out with two persons.
As these damages can only occur through incorrect handling on the construction site, we unfortunately cannot accept any claims arising.

Installation without pinta ACOUSTIC PANEL profile:

For bonding pinta ACOUSTIC PANEL elements on absorbent base surfaces such as wood, masonry and concrete, use pinta Acoustic Adhesive D. For installation on non-absorbent base surfaces, we recommend using pinta Acoustic Adhesive S. The function and fire protection characteristics of both adhesives have been tested under installed conditions as assemblies together with pinta ACOUSTIC PANEL elements.
The elements are bonded to the substate with a shadow gap.
Please note that the product structure is visible when not using pinta ACOUSTIC PANEL profiles.
The ACOUSTIC PANEL consists of materials with differing characteristics and tolerances. This leads to variations in dimension within production batches of the finished product. The ACOUSTIC PANEL is therefore not suitable for jointless installations.
The elements can be cut easily with a sharp knife. Clean gloves (e.g. cotton) should be worn whenever working with the panels in order to keep them as clean as possible.

Installation with pinta ACOUSTIC PANEL profile:

The pinta ACOUSTIC PANEL profiles are installed in the gaps created between the elements. Apply a thin bead of pinta Acoustic Adhesive S to Profile 1 (standard T) along the barbs and insert them between the ACOUSTIC PANEL elements. Lay the pinta ACOUSTIC PANEL elements with a gap of approx. 2 – 3 mm, so that the profiles can be inserted easily and the profile legs completely cover the panel interface. Screw Profile 3 (top hat profile) directly to the wall or ceiling. There is a groove along the middle of the profile to facilitate proper placement of screws. Lay the pinta ACOUSTIC PANEL elements with a gap of approx. 14 mm. Make certain that the legs of the top hat profile completely cover the panel interface. All profiles can also be laid in combination (e.g. lengthwise Profile 3, endwise Profile 1).

The bonding properties of the adhesives must be noted (see product information PDF).

Clean cotton gloves should be worn during all aperations to avoid dirt.

pinta acoustic adhesive S is applied in strips to the base surface. The number of strips depends on the product and the absorbers’ format.

pinta Acoustic Adhesive D

Field of Application

Bonding of pinta absorbers (except A2 products) to absorbent base surfaces in interior areas.

Features

pinta Acoustic Adhesive D is ready for processing and bonds immediately. Nevertheless, absorbers can be corrected again within 5 minutes of installation. pinta Acoustic Adhesive D bonds securely to concrete, mineral plaster, masonry, and boards made of gypsum, gypsum carton or gypsum fiber, as well as chipboard (observe the board manufacturer’s specifications).

Shelf life

At least 12 months when stored in a dry and frost-proof place.

Lowest film formation temperature

Approximately +4 °C.

Processing temperature range

From approx. +5 °C to approx. +25 °C. pinta Acoustic Adhesive D must never be exposed to temperatures below zero.

Base surface

Surfaces must be even, clean, dry, solid, stable and free of dust, oil and wax. In particular, wallpaper and coats of paint must be removed. Base surfaces with insufficient stability, e.g. sanding plaster, should be pre-coated with standard commercial primer diluted 1:1 in water. Uneven base surfaces should be evened out. We recommend performing an adhesion test.

Processing

Using a toothed putty knife (size 2 – 3), apply pinta Acoustic Adhesive D to the whole base surface area. Press on the absorbers and align them. Wash splashes of adhesive off with water while still fresh. Adequate ventilation must be ensured during and after bonding of pinta products so that the adhesive sets quickly.

Coverage

1.2 –1.5 kg/m2; full-area bonding.

pinta Acoustic Adhesive S

Fields of Application

pinta Acoustic Adhesive S is a polydimethylsiloxane-based adhesive and particularly suitable for bonding pinta absorbers to smooth, non-absorbent surfaces.

Features

pinta Acoustic Adhesive S is ready for processing and bonds immediately. Nevertheless, absorbers can be corrected again within 5 minutes of installation. pinta Acoustic Adhesive S bonds securely with base surfaces such as sheet steel, trapezoidal sheet metal and PVC.

Shelf life

6 months when stored in a dry, cool and frost-proof place with the original packaging unopened.

Processing temperature range

From approx. +5°C to approx. +40°C. pinta Acoustic Adhesive S must never be exposed to temperatures below zero.

Film formation

Within 5 minutes at +23°C and 50% humidity.

Temperature resistance

–50 °C to +180 °C.

Base surface pre-treatment

The base surface must be clean, dry, and free of oil and grease.

Processing

pinta Acoustic Adhesive S is applied in strips to the base surface. The number of strips depends on the product and the absorbers’ format.

Coverage

Approximately ½ cartridge/m2;

Building material class

In combination with willtec, both acoustic adhesives are classified as building material class B1 (flame-retardant) according to DIN 4102.
